The Kay Saintsing Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 to honor the late founder of the North Carolina Association of Festival and Events (NCAF&E). Kay was a leader within the tourism community and highly admired for her commitment to public service. Annually, a $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a returning student at a North Carolina college or university. Students from all campuses (who meet the requirements) may apply.
NCAF&E wishes this award to be made to a student who has "serious academic
pursuits," who "loves learning," and who is "interested in the breadth of learning in
relation to recreation and tourism." The Executive Board of the NCAF&E has established
the selection criteria and process for this award by recognizing Kay Saintsings' intentions
when she initiated NCAFE. The criteria are:
If you meet these criteria, we invite you to apply for this prestigious award. You must submit your application to the NCAF&E Office by January 13, 2012.
Please complete and attach the enclosed form to your essay. The NCAF&E
Executive Board will review all essays. The recipient of the award will be announced at
the Carolina Showfest Awards Luncheon.

The South Carolina Festival and Event Association is committed to the progress and promotion of the festival and event industry in South Carolina. The Association believes that current college students enrolled in hospitality and tourism programs within the state's university and college systems are vital to the future growth and develop of the industry. In 2011, the SCFEA board approved awarding a $500 scholarship to a deserving student. The following guidelines were established:
Applications must include an unofficial transcript stating the student's intended major and grades (an official transcript may be required before the scholarship is awarded). The application, resume, essay, and unofficial transcript must be received by December 31, 2011.
